Steven Staples on Mali and Egypt, CHCH “Square Off”

Steven Staples appeared on the CHCH Hamilton program Square Off on Tuesday, January 30, 2013, to give commentary on the Canadian special forces involvement in Mali, as well as an update on Egypt and President Morsi, as the situation there continues to deteriorate.

“We’re almost back to square one again,” said Staples, “with protests, people being killed in some riots, the military threatening to take over, and Morsi is caught in the middle of this. He’s seen as a moderate by the Islamic Muslim Brotherhood…but most of the people in the military and the people out in Tahrir Square have a lot of suspicions about what his agenda really is.”

The full interview is available on the CHCH website. The segment on Mali and Egypt can be watched in ‘Part 2.’
